“SpillCam”: You Pick Gallons/Day Leaked

Thanks to PBS and its SpillCam, we can at least get a more accurate picture of what is being leaked. Sorta good, sorta not so good. Not so good if you are planning on sleeping at night.

The best news is coming from CNN these days, from Anderson Cooper (and, this week, Sanjay Gupta). I only trust this news source right now because Cooper is so frustrated by the media blackout. Welcome to the club, AC!

Why is our government allowing BP to run this show? Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse. The only reason BP is not allowing media and scientists in to report and investigate is because they have A LOT to hide! Our gov officials–and Obama specifically–is in cohoots with this plan. Why?

With commentary like this, we need to be afraid and we need that fear to drive us to take action. I’m thinking we should peacefully storm the gulf and demand that the media and scientists (at the very least) be allowed in there to see what is happening! Right now, we the people are being ignored.

What’s worse: we are allowing it!!!

This catastrophe is to me what the swine flu was to my friends. I am afraid and I am angry. This is no small matter. It will not only affect the immediate Gulf states, including Florida. It will contaminate the entire Eastern seaboard and the planet, if not ecologically (and it seems unlikely that won’t happen), then financially. Not just for my lifetime: what are we leaving our children?

And why are we content to sit and wait, to watch TV, shake our heads and sigh, then click over to an equally mindless entertainment? Holding Hands Across the Sand is good – that energy is a real force. But it’s not enough. We need to turn off our electricity so consistently that our bills actually go down. We need to ride our bikes, motor scooters, walk when we can. Heat our homes with wood fires. Heat our water with a black water tank or black hoses coiled on the roof. Cook with a wood burning stove/grill.

Yes, there are ecological problems with every energy source requiring heat. But, right this minute, we need to hurt the oil industry, to prove to them we have an effect and we are paying attention. The only way to hurt an oil company is via the pocket book.

And we need to show our government that we will not be ignored. They work for us and they better get off their big fat* lazy butts and do something about this spill.

# 1. Write your “representatives”: www.Congress.org, fill in your zip code and write to EVERY ONE of your reps. Tell them what you want them to do, that you vote and that you talk to everyone about what concerns you and who is representing your interests. And if they won’t, you will find someone who will.

#2. Don’t re-elect anyone unless you know for sure they are voting the way YOU want them to.

#3. Consider supporting the Liberty Candidates in your state. Here’s the site, listing Constitutional candidates who support sound money (which is the only way to have a sound economy), non-interventionist foreign policy (i.e., peace which will shut down the military industrial complex via its pocketbook and help us on our path to sound money and a vibrant economy), and a return to a Constitutional government. If this fits your world view, find the liberty candidates in your state and support them! If not, see #2 here.

If you don’t like the Constitution, at least hire people who will follow
it, who will obey the laws of the land, the rule of law until they help
you change those laws! We cannot allow our “representatives” to trample
our rights and make up any laws they want. They work for us and need to
protect our interests. Nowhere is their lack of honor and disrespect
for their constituents more apparent than in today’s very real crisis in
the gulf.

#4. And how about storming the gulf? Do you have a better idea? Let’s hear it! What about a petition with a list of demands, like get the Navy in there to take over. Definitely Fire BP! Bring hay, hair, microbes, everything to eat and sop up the oil. Stop pussyfooting around. And stop the use of Corexit* now. Corexit which is banned in the UK!!! All it does is disperse the oil: drop it to the bottom of the sea, basically hiding it where it can continue to do its very dirty work…. Plus, Corexit is more toxic than oil. For more on Corexit, see ** below.

God bless us. He better, because we are in deep doo-doo of our own making. We better start digging ourselves out. NOW.

*Ok, so many of them are not fat because they can afford a personal trainer on our dime. And will be able to afford it long after they are out of office, also on our dime. One of those very real “unfunded liabilities” our children will be paying for long after we (and the fat cats) are gone.

**Reliable info on Corexit is hard to come by: it’s either provided by the manufacturer or BP or conspiracy enthusiasts or the MSM (who takes advertising money from Big Oil). Here’s a start: Wikipedia, YouTube, Corexit.com, Sourcewatch. Or go to Startpage.com and do your own search.
